The SwingTrader.Trading website is removing the Model Portfolio My Guru’s.

The My Guru’s portfolio was composed of stock selections from several very successful Guru’s who have a proven track record and proven skill. However, one of the Guru’s has stepped down and been replaced with an unproven rookie. This Guru is responsible for at least 1/2 of the stock selections in the portfolio. In the investment world, a stock selection service is only as good as the key person who has laid down the track record that shines. The replacement is never as good. Just look at the 14 year record of Peter Lynch piloting the Fidelity Magellan Fund. Then compare that record to those that preceded him and then come after him. Big difference!

I am leaving the detail of the My Guru’s Performance 2023 to date spreadsheet in place until the end-of-the-year in case anyone should be interested in what stocks were in it and what was the record on April 12, 2023. The final tally showed My Guru’s with a 10.8% gain for 2023 compared to 6.7% for the SPY. You can view it HERE.
