The Model Portfolio Small Cap Discoveries was updated this weekend. New Adds of 10 stocks were made and Removals of 8 stocks were made. All prices are as of 02/16/2024. A total of 20 stocks are in the Portfolio now.

The Portfolio continues to outpace its benchmark, IJR, by a wide margin. The Portfolio is up over 29% for the year and 15% ahead of its benchmark.

BackTest – The Backtest for this Portfolio outperformed the IJR benchmark in 15 out of the 19 years tested. It underperformed in years 2008, 2015, 2017 and 2019. When the Portfolio outperformed, it was usually by a wide margin. The best year was 2009 when it was up by 127%.

Add – AVD, CPSI, DERM, HCSG, MG, MTW, OIS, ORN, SXC, ULBI

Remove – AAN, ACU, FSTR, MNTX, MPAA, MRC, TIXT, USAP

Noteworthy are VIRC (added 9/22/23), and PANL (added 10/20/23). They are up 44% and 39% respectively. TIXT (added 10/20/24) was removed by the software program this update, It was up 67% since it was added.

Backtests for the Model Portfolios

This update of the Small Cap Discoveries Model Portfolio saw lower turnover than last month. TIXT, the star performer over the last few months, was removed by the software. The performance of the Portfolio kept pace with its benchmark IJR over the last month.
