The Model Portfolio Mid Cap Flyers was updated this weekend. New Adds of 8 stocks were made and Removals of 8 stocks were made. All prices are as of 04/05/2024. A total of 20 stocks are in the Portfolio now.
The Mid Cap Flyers Model Portfolio is now up 24% for 2023-2024 and is roughly equal to its benchmark MDY. Active outperformer GPS is up +72% and PTVE up +39%. These tickers were added 11/3/23 and 11/3/23 respectively. Highflier SMTC added on 3/1/24 was Removed in this update, up 45% since it was added.
The Model Portfolio is made up of 18 to 21 stocks. The criteria used is that firstly, the stocks are in the Mid Cap universe of stocks. This is defined as having a Market Capitalization between $1 Billion and $12 Billion. The vast majority of the stocks selected should be in that range. Secondly, Earnings per share (EPS) and related data concerning EPS is used to make the selections.

Remove – BUSE, CHWY, DB, INDV, KNSA, NTCT, SFNC, SMTC

The Mid Cap Flyers Model Portfolio continued to keep apace with its benchmark, MDY. Not as much upside push in this Portfolio when compared to some of the others such as Quant Alpha’s and BI-Weekly Swings. That is expected based on the backtest of this Portfolio which shows a slower pace of outperformance over time. I am confident that eventually, this Portfolio will start to pull away from it’s benchmark. Patience is needed and a long term outlook.
